Suetonius’ most enduring work consisting of a set of biographies of twelve successive Roman rulers, from Julius Caesar until Domitian, entitled De Vita Caesarum. Superb blind stamping dated 1549 with the themes Spes, Fortitudo, Fides, Caritas. Over wood with two intact brass clasps. - Binding rubbed and with clasps neatly restored; spine a little worn as is upper joint, although holding well; minor spotting and age toning.
