Seven loose leaf botanical watercolours from one hand. Each leaf measure ca 20.6 x 17.4 cms and all are on fine laid paper watermarked 'C & I Honic'. Each annotated in an 18th Century German hand.
Beautiful 18th Century set of watercolours. The Honic watermark identifies the paper to Italy, 1773-4 (See British Association of Paper Historians website referring to paper used by John Downman). Of particular note is the fine Iris Anglica and Climbing Aster. – Excellent overall condition.
